Kujawiak |
The Kujawiak specifically comes from the Kujawy region. Here it is danced in a simple gentle manner, similar to a waltz. The local landowners adopted this attractive dance and made it their own. It soon became known all over Poland. As such it was refined by successive dance teachers in the rich ballrooms and became stylised into what is now acknowledge as a traditional national dance.
It is graceful and romantic. The Kujawiak is usually danced alongside a fast moving Oberek, which underwent the same sort of changes.
